First And Third-Time Winners Top-Performers At 2020 Tournament
Both Feilding High School and Manukura battled through the 2020 Hurricanes Secondary School Sevens Tournament in Masterton on Saturday, with Feilding winning the Hurricanes Sevens Cup for the first time in its seven-year history. On their way to the Final, Feilding were beaten 19-14 by fellow semi-finalists Hastings Boys High School in pool play, qualifying second in their pool for their Semi-Final, as did their Cup Final opponents, St. Patrick’s College Wellington.
In the Girls section of the Tournament, their 2020 title is the third for Manukura, who were untroubled in pool play, but nearly tripped-up at the last hurdle against Feilding High School who last won the Cup in 2015. Manukura’s Maia Davis had the vision to run blind and score a 70 metre try to seal the deal 24-21 on the full-time hooter.
