Weekend Round-Up, Sunday 10 September
In the Trustbank Secondary School Shield Under 18 competition, three out of four Round 2 matches were played in various parts of the region on Saturday.
In Porirua, the Wellington Samoan RFU team were too strong for Wairarapa-Bush, winning the matched by 31 points to 10, while further up the road at a muddy Paraparaumu Domain, the Centurions RFC defeated Horowhenua-Kapiti, by 36 points to 5. In the curtain-raiser to the Heartland Championship match between Wanganui and Poverty Bay, the home side scraped home 21 points to 17 against the visitors and Spriggens Park. The final match of the round between Wellington Catholic Colleges and East Coast, will be played in Levin, next Thursday.
The Hurricanes Under 15 Tournament concluded yesterday, with St. Patrick's College, Silverstream emerging Tournament winners by 31 points to 11 over Auckland's, St. Peter's College. Owing to the grass fields being closed owing to an overnight deluge, all games were transferred to the Maidstone Park Artificial Turf. A summary of the final Tournament placings, is shown below.
