Girls Under 18 Camp Provides Key Development Opportunity
The Hurricanes regional Under 18 Development Camp for female players was held over the past three days in Hawkes Bay, at Napier Boys’ High School, led by New Zealand Rugby’s Women’s Participation Manager, Marina Canterbury.
The Camp featured a combination of skill development sessions and games between the three participating teams from Hawkes Bay RFU, Manawatu RFU and Whanganui RFU.
Results of fixtures played on Day 1 of the Camp were: Manawatu RFU 27, Hawkes Bay RFU 0; Whanganui RFU 15, Hawkes Bay RFU 12; and Manawatu RFU 31, Whanganui RFU 7.
The Day 2 fixture results were: Hawkes Bay RFU 15, Whanganui RFU 12; Manawatu RFU 32, Whanganui RFU, 0; and Manawatu RFU 47, Hawkes Bay 0.
The Council would like to acknowledge the leadership provided for the Camp by Mary-Jane Dukin (Hawkes Bay RFU), Xavier Hill (Hawkes Bay RFU), Sturmey Kahurangi (Manawatu RFU), Mahalia Polson (Manawatu RFU), Sosoli Talawadua (Whanganui RFU) and the volunteers from the participating Provincial Unions who have made the Camp possible.
The Council also acknowledges the support of New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) without whose financial support, the Camp would not have been possible.
